We are delighted to announce that for the first time, Ben Bullen Adventures will be embarking on an international Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expedition and you can get involved!
Over the last 20 years, DofE London have been working with the President’s International Award in The Gambia, West Africa. Groups of young people involved with the DofE in London have been flying out to assist the work the President’s International Award are doing within the schools and communities along the West Coast of The Gambia. This has included projects such as building and painting schools and community buildings, refurbishing old computer units and assisting with the teaching in schools and summer camps. Within this time, a great relationship has developed and has opened up further opportunities for London young people and Gambian young people to work together.
In more recent years, London DofE have been working with the Metropolitan Police to provide broken or unclaimed bicycles to those communities in The Gambia. These have been fixed up by young people from across London and are now in perfect working order. This in turn has opened up a great opportunity for DofE participants looking for an alternative to the Gold walking expeditions.
We are teaming up with the President’s International Award in The Gambia to provide an exciting gold cycling DofE expedition. The training and practice will take place in the UK, in the Epping Forest in January 2018 with the Qualifying expedition taking place in The Gambia in February half term. Participants will need to have a bike of their own for the practice, but the bikes used for the qualifying expedition will be the ones serviced by the Gambian young people. They will also be joined by some of these Gambians for a combined expedition.

Practice – 12-14th January 2018
Qualifier – 9-16th February 2018
Costs – £985pp (includes flights and insurance, doesn’t include food or medical injections)
